Dodgers Have Meeting With Juan Soto, Scott Boras Officially Scheduled: Reports
The Los Angeles Dodgers, fresh off a $1 billion offseason, are set to meet with the prize of this free agent class — and another potential $700 million man.
Juan Soto, who’s already taken meetings with a few of the high-spending, large-market teams, is meeting with the Dodgers on Tuesday in Southern California alongside his agent, Scott Bors, per multiple reports.
MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand was first to report on the meeting, saying it would be “early this week, possibly as soon as Tuesday.”
Then, ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez confirmed the meeting was on Tuesday. Jon Heyman of the New York Post added more on the Dodgers’ expected meeting with Soto.

“While Los Angeles may not view themselves as the favorites in this derby due to their location on the west coast, a Soto confidant downplayed the idea that geography is the factor some assume,” Heyman wrote. “Soto obviously must have some interest since it’s believed he’ll be approving the get-together.”
Soto has already met with the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, and Boston Red Sox, per reports. Now, he’s taking a meeting with the Dodgers, who have a clear need for a corner outfielder.

Mookie Betts is moving back to the infield next season, and Teoscar Hernández — the team’s most productive outfielder in 2024 — is currently a free agent. Adding Soto to the mix would form the greatest top of the lineup in MLB history with Betts, Soto, Shohei Ohtani, and Freddie Freeman.
Soto is coming off arguably the best season of his career, slashing .288/.419/.569 with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs, 129 walks to 119 strikeouts, and an OPS of .989. He had a wRC+ of 180, an fWAR of 8.1, a bWAR of 7.9, and is a finalist for the American League Most Valuable Player award.
Soto is just 26 years old, making him one of the most sought-after free agents ever. The Dodgers were able to land arguably the most sought-after free agent ever in Shohei Ohtani a year ago. Now, they’ll try to do it again this offseason with Soto.

Run far, run fast, no on Soto.
This would be a mistake. Get 2 team-player outfielders who can consistently hit .270 with 15 homers, we’d be much better off.
Hell No on Soto. Way overrated.
Life long Dodger Fan, we don’t need Soto , it’s all about him not the team! Don’t need a player like him!!!
Let me add my voice to the thousands saying “NO!” to Soto. He would be a disruptive influence, a spoiled diva, and in the long run, a waste of good money. When he can’t play the outfield any more in three or four years, what are you going to do with him? He can’t DH, we have another guy who’s pretty decent there.
I’ve been a fan since 1963 and this would be a disaster.
No thank you to Juan Soto for all of the reasons cited above and than some.
Soto is a powerful & dangerous hitter, no doubt. But an absolute liability in the outfield with a seemingly low baseball IQ. He’ll be a great DH for years to come, but with Ohtani in our stable, we don’t need another. Sign Teoscar for 3 yrs at a fraction of the cost. They’d be fools to let him get away.
