Dodgers Highlights: LA Mounts Huge Comeback In Game One of Doubleheader vs Dbacks

Getting to 103 wins is no easy feat, but it takes a great team to even get an opportunity at elite status. With the Dodgers impressive 6-5 win against the Diamondbacks, it seems the win total was no anomaly.

The Dodgers got on the board first, but soon conceded five straight runs heading into the eighth inning. All five runs came off Michael Grove who was recalled to the Dodgers roster about a week ago. No way the Dodgers had a chance to come back right?

Down But Not Out

The Dodgers began their massive comeback off the back of Austin Barnes two-run moonshot home run. The Dodgers still had work to do, but this helped get the party started in LA.

Barnes ended his day 3-4 with two RBI’s and one run.

Flurry of Mistakes

The Dodgers were able to capitalize off Diamondback errors and mistakes as they managed to get the bases loaded beginning with a Hanser Alberto double after Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker was unable to haul in the catch.

This was only the beginning of the Diamondbacks downfall as three times in a row they weren’t able to corral easy balls (one in the outfield and two by third baseman Josh Rojas). When you give a team like the Dodgers this many chances, it only sets up disappointment for the other team.

Three RBI’s in a row capped off by a Miguel Vargas, who also ran in for the Barnes home run, two-out single defined the day for the Diamondbacks.

Up Next

The Dodgers will look to fix their mistakes that got them into a early hole in their second match of the double header. Tyler Anderson draws the start for the Dodgers against the Diamondbacks’ Drew Jameson on SNLA at 7:10 PM.

Trea Turner’s status for the game remains unknown after exiting the game early, but signs point towards being cautionary and letting Turner sit.
