Dodgers’ Hyeseong Kim Isn’t Worried About Potentially Being Sent Down
When the Los Angeles Dodgers called up Hyeseong Kim from the minors, manager Dave Roberts said the 26-year-old would serve as a temporary replacement for Tommy Edman as he spent time recovering from an ankle injury.

However, 13 games later, the Dodgers find themselves with an extremely difficult question to answer: Should Kim be sent back to Triple-A once Edman is activated off the injured list?
It’s a question that many Dodgers fans want the answer to, and hope Kim remains with the big league team.
Kim is hitting .452 with one home run, five runs batted in, and a 1.065 OPS across 33 plate appearances. The infielder tied the Dodgers rookie record by reaching safely in nine straight plate appearances.
“He just kind of has a magic wand right now,” Roberts said. “He’s taking good at-bats and putting the ball in play. And when you can do that, good things can happen.”
The Dodgers signed Kim to a three-year, $12.5 million deal in the offseason. It appeared Kim would serve as the team’s primary second baseman after the Dodgers traded Gavin Lux to the Cincinnati Reds just days after.
However, Kim began the season in the minors because of his struggles at the plate during spring training. Just over a month into the 2025 campaign, Kim was recalled after a hot start with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Since his arrival to the big leagues, Kim has made an impact in the Dodgers lineup consistently. As for whether he’s worried about being sent down, the infielder answered.
“I’m just going to play baseball. When I’m on the field I’m just going to play my baseball, try to get on base,” Kim said through an interpreter. “It’s hard to speculate, hard to predict what’s going to happen in the future.”
While Kim isn’t sure whether his stint in the majors will be extended, he’s focused on enjoying the moment.
“It’s been fun,” he added. “It’s not an easy opportunity to have, so I’m really having fun right now.”

Need to keep Kim on the roster, if not a full time starter but a great bench piece or part-time player. He brings excitement whenever he’s playing and energy in the team. In his short period of time he has out performed CT3, Conforto, M. Rojas, and even Kike. His presence in the line-up brings a little dynamic to the team and energy to an aging lineup.

Forgot to mention Outman definitely needs to be sent down to make room .
I have a hard time believing that this would even be a question. Why would you send someone who is performing like that back down to the minors? There are some other candidate who warrant being sent down or DFAed. Definitely keep Kim!
He’s got a pretty good arm and is quick to the ball. Why not train him at 3rd base?
Why send Kim down when you can release Taylor that hasn’t done squat that last several years.
Well the answer is obvious. They need to DFA Taylor.
