Dodgers Injury News: Max Muncy’s Return Date Pushed Back

The Dodgers got some bad news on the injury front to infielder Max Muncy prior to their game against the Houston Astros Friday. It was announced that Muncy would not be activated from the injured list as he still feels some tightness in his hamstring. Muncy was supposed to play last weekend against the San Francisco Giants but much like this update, he suffered a setback.

Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic had the scoop.

This is unfortunate news for the Dodgers as they were hoping to have the reinforcement of Muncy to their lineup against the defending champions this weekend.

On the year, Muncy is hitting just .191 but does have 18 home runs and 45 runs batted in. While his numbers haven’t been the greatest this season, he is still a legit power hitter and requires the opposing teams to factor that into any decisions.

It’s unlikely that he will be activated this weekend as the team will proceed with caution with him. Hamstring injuries are no joke so the team will need to be careful how they play this. They need a healthy Muncy as the season goes on if they want to reach their goals of winning another World Series.

This is just another blow to a Dodgers team that has dealt with a plethora of injuries all season long. They have had to adjust on the fly pretty much since the start of the season and it has cost them some wins. But they will move forward from this and hopefully we can see Muncy back next week when the team descends for Colorado and Kansas City.
