Dodgers Injury Update: Justin Turner Sick And Josh Ravin Out For The Season

The Dodgers have not had the best of luck as of late. First Cody Bellinger looked like he tweaked his ankle rounding second base, but luckily he’s doing just fine. Then Corey Seager fouled a ball off of his ankle. After taking Thursday off, Seager is back in the lineup for Friday’s game against the Giants.

The latest to catch the injury bug was Justin Turner after being hit by a pitch on Thursday. To make matters worse for Turner, he is battling some “viral things” and won’t be in Friday’s lineup because of it.

On a more serious note, Josh Ravin’s season has been cut short due to a hip issue. Ravin didn’t have the best numbers in 2017 so it probably wasn’t likely that he would have made the postseason roster, anyway. He put up a 6.48 ERA in 16.2 innings-pitched and a WHIP of 1.26.

This was also the corresponding move for activating Brandon McCarthy, who will be given opportunities out of the bullpen before the season is over. McCarthy was solid to begin the year, giving up two runs or less in his first four starts. He also went six shutout innings against the Cubs, a potential opponent in the postseason, back in May.

Unfortunately McCarthy fell victim to blisters, patella tendonitis, and command issues this year. Hopefully he is healthy now and can prove that he can make a positive contribution to the team!
