Dodgers: Joe Kelly Approaching a Return, Sort Of

The Dodgers’ bullpen has seen a lot of over the last few weeks. While guys like Jake McGee, Blake Treinen, and Dylan Floro have stepped things up in terms off workloads, help will need to come soon.

One guy that the Dodgers are looking forward to getting back soon is Joe Kelly. Kelly went onto the injured list with shoulder inflammation that has shut him down since early August. Dave Roberts talked about Kelly’s imminent return, and it sounds like he will be back soon…sort of.

As far as the command, it wasn’t where it needs to be. Right now it doesn’t have to be there. Monday, for me, is going to be a big test because I’m going to be expecting the command to be tightened up and the intensity ramped up.

Kelly is working on getting back to normal, but there are a few obstacles. For one, it sounds like the command of his pitches is still a little ways off. The Dodgers reliever also has to serve his suspension when he is inevitably activated. Kelly was issued an 8-game suspension for his part in a benches-clearing incident. That was later reduced to 5 games after an appeal.
