Dodgers: Josiah Gray Will Make His Cactus League Debut Wednesday

The Dodgers’ starting rotation depth is unparalleled in all of baseball right now. Another exciting piece is getting the chance to show what he’s got as Josiah Gray will take the ball Wednesday against the Angels.

Gray is currently ranked as the Dodgers’ number five prospect, although many think his potential goes far beyond that. Gray was part of the return when Los Angeles traded Yasiel Puig, Alex Wood, Matt Kemp, and Kyle Farmer to the Reds back in 2018.

The 6’1 right-hander threw to a combined 2.28 ERA in 130 innings of work last year, netting him Minor League pitcher of the year honors. Only nine of his starts came at the Double-A level, but he pitched exceptionally well when promoted there.

The Dodgers and their staff are excited for Gray, and that was proven this week. One source cited Andrew Friedman as describing Gray’s live BP this week as “unbelievable”.

Gray has demonstrated a fastball that tops out somewhere in the mid to high nineties. Experts are very excited about the potential of his slider, as many believe it will become a plus pitch for him.

If you can only attend one game this week at Spring Training, let it be Wednesday.
