Dodgers: Kenley Jansen Struggles in Braves Debut

When the Dodgers traded AJ Pollock for Craig Kimbrel, that led to a lot of questions. It was even more perplexing to learn that Kimbrel was being paid the same amount that the Braves paid Kenley Jansen in free agency. But the simple answer was that Kenley had an offer, and he wasn’t about to wait around to see if Los Angeles could bring him back on board.

Kimbrel’s Dodgers debut went decent, but fans still had a lot to say about his first performance. Charlie Blackmon laced an RBI double off of him, allowing for the Rockies to bring the tying run to the plate. He eventually shut the door, but it was not without criticism.

But Kenley’s debut didn’t go any better. The former Dodgers closer came in during the 9th inning with a 4-run lead over the Reds. He walked one and gave up 3 hits and 3 runs, bringing the Reds to within 2 before eventually closing out the game for the Braves.

Obviously, it’s not what Kenley would have wanted in his debut. But you can be sure that Dodgers fans will be watching him all season long, wondering if he will outperform Kimbrel out in Los Angeles. And if he does, there are going to be some very angry fans.
