Dodgers Lineup vs Phillies: Max Muncy Out, Kiké Hernandez at First Base

Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy is not in Friday’s lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies. Instead, the Dodgers have penciled in Miguel Rojas as the team’s starting third baseman.

The L.A. lineup will face left-hander Jesus Luzardo on the mound tonight, which could be the reason for Muncy’s absence. Additionally, with Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts getting most of the starts at shortstop, this gives Rojas a chance to get some at-bats Friday.

The infield looks fairly different for the Dodgers’ road series in Philadelphia. With Freddie Freeman on the 10-day injured list, utility man Kiké Hernández will be playing at first.

Freeman has a right sprained ankle after slipping in the shower. He did not play in any of the three games against the Atlanta Braves earlier this week.

The Dodgers announced catcher Hunter Feduccia was recalled in lieu of Freeman heading to the IL.

L.A. heads into the series 8-0, the best start by any defending champion in MLB history. The Dodgers look to extend their win streak Friday against the Phillies with Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound.

  1. I like Kike’ Hernandez but he is a poor first baseman. Why the Dodgers did not play Muncy at first, their former first baseman before they signed Freeman, was beyond me. If Kike’ had made those throws, Muncy would have caught them as he did all those times before he got injured. I understand they want to keep Kike’s right handed bat in against a left-hander But Kike’s akward play at first base is a threat to more throwing errors by the other Dodger infielders…
