Dodgers Lose Jack Flaherty, RHP Signs With Tigers on Two-Year Deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a great offseason but they won’t be able to retain everyone from the 2024 title team. Right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty has agreed to sign with the Detroit Tigers on a two-year deal that is worth $35 million.
ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan announced the deal on social media.
Flaherty goes back to the team that the Dodgers traded for him from in a full circle moment. The right-hander was instrumental in helping Los Angeles win the World Series this past season and had wanted to stay with the team.

But due to all the signings from the Dodgers this winter, it was always a strong unlikelihood for him to return. However, the righty will be remembered well by the fans and his time in Los Angeles got him a World Series ring.

The veteran pitcher started Game 1 for the team in the NLCS and World Series, helping Los Angeles take control of each series. His second start in each series were ones that he surely would like to forget but the Dodgers simply don’t win the World Series without the services of Flaherty.
Flaherty will be missed by the Dodgers but his time was well spent. The right-hander posted an ERA of 3.58 over 10 starts with Los Angeles after coming over from the Tigers at the trade deadline.

They did not lose him, they didn’t need him!
What did we lose? He is a mediocre pitcher at best. Dodgers never wanted him back.
Mediocre perhaps. Not the greatest numbers, but he did hold down a spot when we really needed the help. I’ll always think well of him and appreciate what he did last year.
And for that we should bid him a fond farewell. Good Luck Jack, in Detroit…
And for that we will say goodbye and good luck to Jack in Detroit next year.
Absolutely no reason to bad mouth him. He was a starter that posted when the Dodgers were desperate. Not an ace, but still solid.
However, the Dodgers didn’t “lose” him since he was a FA and his roster spot was already filled with even better talent.
