Dodgers: Mad Diego Padres, LA’s Road to October, Belli’s Busted Rib, Don’t Die in Colorado! | Blue Heaven Podcast

The Dodgers take 2 of 3 in Cincinnati while learning that Cody Bellinger has a rib injury. Surprisingly, that isn’t enough to put him on the bench or injured list. We discuss if the “let Cody play per his pain tolerance” idea is a smart play. Plus, a deep dive into the centerfield numbers of a returning AJ Pollock tells us that he’s more than ready to be the starter in October.

Next, Clayton Kershaw proves he’s the best number 4 starting pitcher in baseball and Mookie Betts proves the Dodgers did right by paying him for 12+ seasons. Dave Roberts finally changes up the lineup moving a struggling Max Muncy out of the two hole and putting Corey Seager back where he belongs.

In the most important news of the day and week, LA remains in the hunt for NL West crown number 9 in a row. However, the division leading Giants head down south to play the Mad Diego Padres in a series that could cost the Friar manager his job if SF sweeps. In case you missed it, Padres’ star infielders Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis got into a shouting match over the weekend begging the question, has SD manager Jayce Tingler lost this clubhouse?

The sputtering Padres also make us appreciate Dave Roberts in LA that much more.

Finally, we preview the Dodgers’ series in Colorado where the game plan and the message is simple… focus on what you can control.

  1. My wife has said all year that the Padres aren’t a team. They are a collection of individuals. Some are ‘hey look at me’ types. Some are ‘punks.’ Some are ‘leave me alone’ millionaires.
Of course she also thinks the whole Trevor Bauer mess was set up by the Padres. I guess you can tell she doesn’t like the Padres!

  2. Many wholeheartedly agree with your wife, but whether we like the Padres or not, we will benefit from them playing well enough to beat the Giants. Right now, I want the Padres to win as much as I want the Dodgers to win. Let’s Go Dodgers and get (and keep) it together, Padres!

  3. C’mon, is LUX the best they have in OKC? This guy can’t play left field, 2nd base, shortstop. He can’t judge fly balls. He screwed the pooch in left field 3 times tonight 09-21. Basic outfield rule, you don’t dive for flyballs, you keep the ball in front of you in any position. Damm, why can’t Chris Taylor play or Matt Beaty play left field until Pollock comes back.

  4. The best thing the Dodger’s ever did was let that scumbag Manny Machado sign with the Padres. I hated him and his punk attitude from the time he joined the team. Good thing we share the same last name or I’d tell you what I really think of him.

  5. US do NOT appreciate Roberts at all. Just because another manager is no good does NOT elevate Roberts to be any good. Maybe they both stink.
