The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated two of their newest players — right-handed pitcher Brock Stewart and outfielder Alex Call — ahead of Friday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays, per the team’s transaction log.

Stewart takes Dustin May’s spot on the roster, while Call takes James Outman’s.
Stewart, 33, was acquired in a one-for-one trade for Outman. The right-handed pitcher has a 2.38 ERA with 41 strikeouts across 34 innings this season, and has been dominant against right-handed hitting, allowing opponents from the right side to hit just .104 with an OPS of .327.
Stewart will fill a middle relief role in the LA bullpen, helping them continue to await the returns of their injured relievers including Tanner Scott and Brusdar Graterol.
As for Call, the outfielder will serve as depth for the team and a right-handed option as Kiké Hernandez remains sidelined.
Call is hitting .274 with three home runs, 26 RBIs and an OPS of .756 on the year. He’s been great against left-handed pitching, hitting .314 with an OPS of .802.
Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said Call wouldn’t exactly be platooning with Michael Conforto in left field, but he’ll give LA a stronger bat off the bench than Esteury Ruiz. The Dodgers traded two minor league pitchers to Washington for Call.
