Dodgers Make Roster Move Ahead of Tuesday’s Game vs Nationals

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a roster move ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Washington Nationals.

Left-hander pitcher Justin Wrobleski has been called up from Triple-A to start Tuesday’s game. Right-handed pitcher Matt Sauer has been optioned back to Triple-A.

The Dodgers needed a starter to replace left-handed pitcher Blake Snell, who was placed on the injured list due to shoulder inflammation. Wrobleski will get the first crack at being his replacement, coming off a 2024 season in which he made eight appearances and six starts for the Dodgers, sporting a 5.70 ERA across 36.1 innings pitched.

Wrobleski had a strong spring training, sporting a 1.93 ERA across 9.1 innings pitched. In his one Triple-A start this season, he pitched 5.2 innings of shutout baseball, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out three.

Snell is set to miss multiple weeks due to his shoulder injury, so Wrobleski could have an extended opportunity at the MLB level.

“Hopefully it’s a couple weeks and I’m back and I’m ready to go then,” Snell said on the injury. “I’ve been feeling it for like three weeks… I thought I could pitch through it when I got to Philly. Played long toss, catch, tried to throw – I just couldn’t. This sucks. I was hoping I could just get past it and pitch, and it would go away. It’s hurting, so I’ll get healthy and get back out there.”

The Dodgers also need a starting pitcher for Wednesday’s game as they want to keep Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki on their normal schedule. Right-handed pitcher Landon Knack, who joined the team at the White House on Monday, is expected to be called up for Wednesday’s game.
