Gonzalez followed with a base hit that dropped just in front of Ozuna to give the Dodgers runners on the corners with one out. Turner then beat out a would-be double play, allowing Kendrick to score and the Dodgers to take a 1-0 lead.

Andre Ethier nearly added a three-run home run but the ball went to the right of the foul pole line and he was called out on strikes on the next pitch to end the inning. Realmuto hit a two-out single off Greinke in the fifth but the Marlins were otherwise quieted.

Scott Van Slyke hit a leadoff double and moved over to third base one Greinke’s sacrifice bunt. Pederson drew a walk, but cost the Dodgers by running into a 9-3 double play. Rollins made good contact that forced Stanton to go back and make an over-the-shoulder catch. He then alertly doubled up Pederson before Van Slyke could tag and score from third base.

Greinke worked a 1-2-3 inning in the sixth and got the third out by hitting the inside corner for called strike three against Prado. Koehler walked Turner on four pitches with two outs, but Grandal grounded to Gordon, who made a barehanded play and flipped the ball behind his back to Morse for the final out of the inning.

With the Dodgers clinging to a 1-0 lead, Greinke retired Stanton for the first out in the seventh before Ozuna jumped on his first pitch and tied the game with a solo home run. Christian Yelich and Morse hit consecutive singles and Greinke walked Realmuto to load the bases with one out.

Hechavarria lined out to left and Van Slyke threw a strike to nail Yelich at home plate to end the inning and keep the game tied. Nick Masset took over for the Marlins in the bottom of the eighth and gave up a one-out single to Van Slyke that turned into a de facto double on Yelich’s error.

With two outs and Van Slyke still standing on second base, Pederson made up for his baserunning error by hitting an RBI single up the middle to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead. One pitch after Ethier nearly made a catch while falling into the stands down the right field foul line, Adam Liberatore picked up a strikeout to open the eighth inning.

Liberatore then struck out Gordon and was lifted in favor of Chris Hatcher. Facing his former team, Hatcher got Prado to foul out. Yimi Garcia came on in the ninth and gave up a two-run home run to Yelich that gave the Marlins a 3-2 lead.

Morse and Realmuto hit back-to-back singles before Garcia managed to get the second out of the inning. However, he then walked pinch-hitter Ichiro Suzuki to load the bases and was replaced by J.P. Howell. Gordon got ahead 2-0 in the count against his former teammate before flying out to end the inning.

Steve Cishek came on in the ninth and issued a one-out walk and gave up a single to Ethier, which set the stage for Van Slyke’s walk-off three run home run.
