Dodgers: Max Muncy Reacts to Another Walk-Off Home Run

The Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in walk-off fashion on Wednesday night. The 2-1 final highlighted an otherwise quiet night offensively. In the 4th inning, none other than Will Smith delivered a record tying, towering solo HR to give Los Angeles the 1-0 lead until the 9th inning.

Dodger pitching was lights out, with Walker Buehler, tossing 7 innings of shutout ball, and recording 8 Ks. Joe Kelly followed him with a scoreless 8th inning before Kenley Jansen blew his 6th save of the season on a solo home run to Rowdy Tellez. Pedro Baez pitched a scoreless 10th inning, setting up the hero of the game…

In the bottom of the 10th, Max Muncy stepped up and delivered a 1 out, walk-off HR. Muncy hit his 33rd HR of this season, and has now hit homers in 5 consecutive games, which ties a Dodgers record.

Following the win, Mad Max chatted with SportsNet LA anchor, Alanna Rizzo about the team’s 11th walk-off of the season.

I think you’ve seen it. We all know what we’re capable of…and anyone can do it. Kind of a jack of all trades…we could do it every way possible, and we’re showing that — it’s been going the whole year, so far, I don’t see any reason to stop.

Of course, the heroics were set up by another instance of Jansen struggling in a high leverage situation. Nevertheless, the utility man has his closer’s back.

You pick him up, and he’ll be there for us.

The Dodgers now hold the best record in all of baseball at 84-44, setting up for a big weekend series against the New York Yankees. But first, they will look to sweep the Blue Jays with Kenta Maeda on the mound for the series finale.

  1. In a short series, like a World Series, Jansen is a risk the Dodgers cannot afford. We all saw this coming.

    1. Question is why hasn’t Dave Roberts been willing to admit it and start auditions for the closers role amongst the other pitchers?

      1. Because Jansen is an ego. He’s not like the other 24 guys who are willing to move around for the team

  2. Dodgers now have a TWENTY game lead in the division. I don’t think I have ever seen them get this far out ahead of the entire pack before. Guess this means the entire division is just that mediocre.

    1. Actually — they had a 21-game lead at one point in 2017 — (I believe that was the year)

      1. do not mess up achance at winning a world series by using Jansen when he shows he can’t deliver. use who’s hot right now!! fan since 53 and seen it all, don’t blow it Roberts.
