Dodgers’ Miguel Rojas Undergoing X-Rays After Suffering Hand Injury

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas exited Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Royals early with a hand injury.

Rojas appeared to have sustained the injury trying to steal second. The veteran is set to get an X-ray on his left hand, per manager Dave Roberts.

Rojas said an injured list stint should not be required, but he does have a jammed left ring finger. The infielder reached in each plate appearance in the series finale in Kansas City.

This month, Rojas is batting an impressive .348 (8-for-23). While the veteran isn’t an everyday starter, Rojas has made a significant impact when he is in the lineup.

On the season, he is slashing .250/.289/.380 with three home runs, nine runs batted in, and an OPS of .669 across 108 at-bats. The Dodgers mostly use Rojas and Kiké Hernandez against left-handed pitching this year.

“I think given our roster I think I am going to – to some point – run some right-handed hitters out there, namely Kike’ (Hernandez) and Miggy Ro (Miguel Rojas), to give them opportunities until I don’t,” Roberts said. “So right now against left-handed pitching, that’s an opportunity for them to get into games. Yeah, he’s showing right now that he’s taking good at-bats against lefties.”

The Dodgers have won six straight series, including their latest against the Royals. The defending champions have created significant separation in the National League West, leading the division by seven games.

The Dodgers return to Los Angeles for their next series, which begins Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox. The San Diego Padres are currently one game back of the final NL Wild Card spot, and the San Francisco Giants are 1.5 games back.
