Player of the Day – Kyle Farmer

The Dodgers 8th round pick in last year’s draft, Farmer came out of the gates hot in his debut, hitting .347/.386/.533 with Ogden in 2013. While he played shortstop in college, the Dodgers immediately converted him to catcher and the results have been positive. He shows his athleticism and arm strength behind the plate and looks like a natural receiver. In Monday’s game, he filled up the stat line by reaching base safely in all four of his plate appearances, including collecting his third double, and even stealing a pair of bases. He’s already 23 and still needs time to develop behind the dish, but Kyle is already the club’s best catching prospect.
