Player of the Day – Jose De Leon
A 24th-rounder in 2013, De Leon is a Puerto Rican native who’s drastically improved since his debut. Last year, in five starts with Ogden, he surrendered a 12.10 ERA. This year, through 10 games, he’s produced a miniscule 2.65 mark, which leads the league. He’s also leads the league with 77 strikeouts, which is 25 more than the next guy. Sure, he’s already 22, but the Pioneer League is one of the worst for pitchers. Be wary of scouting the stat lines, but these numbers are hard to ignore.
