Player of the Day – Jose De Leon
De Leon earned a deserved promotion to Great Lakes after dominating in Ogden, with 77 strikeouts in 54.1 innings. He pitched well in his debut with the Loons, going six innings and allowing just one run.
In his second start, De Leon put on a historic show, striking out a Great Lakes record 14 batters, including a string of nine in a row. The Puerto Rican native recently turned 22 and attacks hitters with a fastball that sits in the low to mid 90s. It’s early in his career and it’s the low minors, but these types of numbers are a rarity.
