Dodgers: MLB Insider says He’s ‘Rooting’ for this All-Star to be in Dodger Blue Next Season

The Dodgers are in the midst of doing something special in the 2022 season. They currently hold the best record in baseball, are on pace to win their 9th NL West title in the past 10 seasons and are favored to win their second World Series title in three seasons.

However, the one thing looming in Dodger land is if Trea Turner is going to resign with LA. He is set to become a free agent this off-season and has the opportunity to take off if he chooses to.

Dodgers Nation’s very own Doug McKain spoke with MLB Insider Alden Gonzalez who said that he’s rooting for the Dodgers to sign a certain someone if all fails with Turner.

“I’m rooting so hard for Carlos Correa in LA. I want that so badly to happen… just because it’s so fascinating and just I love the persona…”

Not sure too many LA fans would agree with that opinion by Gonzalez.

The Backstory

As we all know, the Dodgers and Astros played each other in the 2017 World Series in which the Astros came on top in 7 games.

The MLB world finds out that the Astros were cheating for most of that 2017 season specifically in the World Series. Many Astros defended themselves on the subject and more notably then Astros shortstop Carlos Correra spurring a bunch of nonsense to the media and ripping Dodger’s own Cody Bellinger in a 2020 interview.

Since then, Houston has been enemy number 1 (or two if you have the Giants at one) and we won’t let them forget about their cheating ways whenever we host a former player of the 2017 Astros or the team themselves visit Dodger Stadium

There is a ton of bad blood between Dodger fans and Correra and it is really hard for me to see Correra in Dodger blue with everything that’s happened in the past.

However, the Dodgers are the most professional and best run organization in all of baseball, so if they decide to let bye gones be bye gones and decide to welcome Correra then I would respect that decision.

The 27-year-old is currently slashing .269/.353/.426 and is posting a .779 OPS in his first season with the Minnesota Twins. The Puerto Rican native signed a three-year $105.3 million contract with Minnesota, however he has the option to opt-out at the end of the season and become a free agent.

  1. It’s a question of character. Correra has shown himself to be someone of low character. The Dodgers like players of high character.

  2. Correra is a cheating scumbag and a person of the lowest character. He would destroy the overall quality of our entire organization by his very presence and fans would make his life a living nightmare, and justifiably so.

  3. It’s hard for me to see him playing for the Dodgers, the bad blood is probably too great to overcome. There are a couple of other quality shortstops becoming free agents (i.e. Dansby Swanson and Xander Bogaerts) and Gavon Lux is also competent there.

  4. Correa is actually a great person. He does a lot for the community. A giving person. He is not perfect. None of us are. Don’t know if the Dodgers would be the right fit.

  5. I would much rather see them re-sign Trea Turner. He fits much better with the Dodgers and is not a known cheater.

  6. If Andrew Friedman was at Dodger Stadium when Minnesota visited, he already knows how the PAYING fans feel about Correa. He’ll always be radioactive.

  7. Correa cannot play for the dodgers period he should be suspended for life along with his partners in crime. He’s public enemy number one in Los Angeles

  8. Plus correa is not man enough to play where he is hated he’ll always be looking over his shoulder when on streets

  9. In 2017, the Dodgers congratulated the Astros in a full page ad in Houston, about the same time Correa was soaking in the celebration of a victory parade. Correa knew what he and the team did but said nothing – until they were caught. He and the team were sorry for their actions but still no apology and no reciprocating full page ad with a message to Dodgers fans and the organization. The same possibilities were passed around when San Fernando Valley’s own Ryan Braun was being considered a fit for the team. Stealing the MVP from Matt Kemp was unforgivable – for which Dodger fans continued to remind management with every plate appearance; Correa et al stole from the whole team and city and the fan response is far more robust. I’m sure Correa is an otherwise good guy but he’s an un-washable skidmark. Keep him away and allow Dodger fans the option to remind Baseball writers why he or any other 2017 Asterisk – regardless of their accomplishments on the field – should never be considered for HOF enshrinement.

  10. Absolutely not , I know Turner didnt want to negotiate during season . But they should of locked this guy up already.

  11. This won’t happen. And it wouldn’t matter what Doc or the players or the front office thought. He would get booed by the home team fans all season. He woukd hate it, play poorly and get traded for nothing.

  12. We have three guys on top of the lineup that are great and have chemistry playing together. Why would you want to break that up by not signing Turner he does a great job at short. We don’t need a “CHEATER”?

  13. The Astros cheated, overtly; and MLB, from the comish & down condoned the cheating.I have been a Dodger fan since 1958, through good & bad years, but with the exception of McCourt & his wife, have stood steadfastly with this team. Bringing in Correa would hurt my brain & feel that all the joy in being a fan of a team who boasts of a very proud tradition would be suddenly drained. What would Vinny think?

    1. About a dozen players have spoken out of widespread cheating. Ken Rosenthal’s original article alluded to it. Unfortunately cheating was rampant for several years. It is now a fact. MLB didn’t want to investigate every team accused of cheating. It would be a P. R. nightmare when half the league was cheating in some way.

  14. I will quit being a fan if this happens. Treat NEEDS to be resigned, along with signing Judge, and maybe Degrom.

  15. Are suggesting with or without Trea returning? If Trea decides to leave something is wrong in the Ravine HQ and we would have to bend over and take it. Not for 40 mil a year though, throw that kind of monrry st Trea first

    1. I believe the Dodgers are the best run organization in baseball. That’s why they would not risk team chemistry by signing CC. Let the pads sign him. He’ll fit right in south that circus, and they need a new ss anyway.

  16. Don’t want him. No respect for a man who lacks character. Our kids need good examples.

    1. No Effin way Jose. TT wants to test the waters n I don’t blame him but he has also recently stated he wants to be on a winning team with committed ownership. We just have to pony up Freddie money + a little.
Dodger fan since 1949. Hope the Court years never happen again.

  17. I just believe Trea Turner is the best with everything he does so why break that off I’m so surprised he has not been signed with Dodgers yet . We need to grab him now before it’s too late .

  18. I’ve been a dodger and baseball fan for 40+ years… sadly I would stop watching my beloved dodgers for whatever time that player is there for.

  19. Piss off Correa. You are a cheater. I hope my Dodgers pay Trea what he’s worth, and screw you Correa.

  20. Hell no. I would rather we finish in last place than sign that piece of garbage cheater. I would never go and root for him at any time.

  21. Lifelong (50+ years) Dodger & Laker fan here. I would be right there with you if they signed ANY of the 2017 Asterisks. In fact, I stopped following the Lakers for basically the same reason when they signed LeBron “King” James. I mean…”The Decision,” REALLY?
Still haven’t seen a Lakers game since & up to that point, I hadn’t missed one since 1969-70.
