Dodgers’ Mookie Betts Responds to Yankees Fans Who Violated Him During World Series

Mookie Betts tried to play off what happened between him and a couple of unruly fans during Game 4 of the World Series against the New York Yankees as no big deal.

But he just revealed how he really felt in the moment in an interview with comedians Kevin Hart and Keenan Thompson.

Betts admitted that he seriously considered throwing a baseball at two men who tried to snatch his glove during a foul ball pop fly at Yankee Stadium on Oct. 29.

“I would really say f**k you guys,” Betts said as a guest on the Back That Year Up 2024 special.

“I thought about throwing the ball at them and then I realized Mook you ain’t gonna do sh*t, go back to right field!”

In case fans need a reminder of the specific play in question, during Game 4 of the World Series, two fans were ejected from Yankee Stadium after one of them snatched a foul ball from Betts’ glove. Betts had jumped at the wall in foul territory to catch a pop up from Gleyber Torres in the first inning, but one fan sitting in the front row grabbed Betts’ glove with both hands and pulled the ball out. The fan sitting next to him then grabbed Betts’ other hand.

The behavior of the fans shocked players on the field and in the dugout.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Dodgers rookie pitcher Ben Casparius said. “It’s pretty interesting. It was obviously very early in the game so I think it kind of set the tone.”

“Yeah, that looked ridiculous from my perspective,” Dodgers shortstop Tommy Edman said. “The guy was trying to yank his glove off, pulling at his wrist. … It looked like he got ejected, and I’m glad he did. I’ve never seen anything like that. That was unacceptable.”

The Dodgers went on to lose the game 11-4 but Betts got the last laugh when the Dodgers clinched the World Series with a come-from-behind victory in Game 5.

  1. Those “fans” that attempted to steal Mookie’s glove and/or ball should be banned from attending any and ALL MLB games in ALL MLB parks, PERMANENTLY!!! Their actions are not only unacceptable, but malicious; bordering on assault! I know that Mookie could not retaliate, but the biggest problem would be that he only had one ball to throw!
