Dodgers News: 3 Prospects Named on The AFL Roster

Fans have been dying to know which minor league prospects will be called up in September to help the team in the postseason. On Tuesday, Dave Roberts listed a few likely names to be called up, though none of our top 5 prospects made the cut. Do not worry though, they have not gone unnoticed.

The Dodgers have slated Cody Bellinger, Willie Calhoun and Alex Verdugo to play in the Arizona Fall League this offseason for the Glendale Desert Dogs. The AFL provides a place for the best prospects to be seen in baseball. With the AFL starting this Oct. 11, Bellinger, Calhoun, and Verdugo have secured their spot on the preliminary roster.

Verdugo and Calhoun were named All-Stars and Chase De Jong, Dodgers No. 17 prospect, was named Texas League Player and Pitcher of the Year. The roster is packed with prominent star players that were sent by the 30 organizations to fill in the AFL’s six teams. With a total of 21 players on the Top 100 Prospects, we hope to see more Dodgers on that list.

The AFL will continue to add some still-to-be-determined Dodgers to the pitching roster of the Glendale Desert Dogs. The league will run through Nov. 9th and could determine who the Dodgers future stars will be.
