Dodgers News: Alex Vesia Aims to Build on Each Successful Season
The Dodgers bullpen has been nothing short of sensational for the past couple of seasons. Even with their roller coaster of a closer situation, fans knew the bullpen would do its job. More times than not, the bullpen would put up zeros and minimize any damage that was put on the Dodgers.
One reliever that was calm, cool, and collected prior to each pitch is lefty reliever Alex Vesia. Since joining the Boys in Blue in 2021, Vesia has become one of the most consistent reliefs in their bullpen.
Vesia was nice enough to chop things up with our very own Doug McKain and said his goal is never to remain satisfied and always strive for more.
“Just never be satisfied. I think my goals just keep getting bigger and bigger each year. And I try to keep holding myself to that high standard.”

Vesia is coming off an incredible 2022 campaign. In it, he went a perfect 5-0 with a 2.15 ERA, had a career-high 79 strikeouts, and collected one save in 63 appearances.
That one save tied his career-high from 2021, and in 2023 he could surpass that number. The Dodgers don’t have a solidified closer going into this season and anyone from that bullpen will have their chance to close a game. Vesia would be a great relief to hand the keys to; however, the 26-year-old doesn’t care about just as long as he does his job.
“What ever situation I’m put in, put up a zero.”
And that should be every reliever’s job for the Boys in Blue. Dodgers Nation can’t wait to see what else Vesia has in store for us and the energy and passion he brings every time he touches the mound.
