Dodgers News And Rumors: Dodgers Interested In Acquiring David Price
The Los Angeles Dodgers could be close to making the biggest move of the off-season. This morning, the Dodgers have expressed interest in trading for Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price. Linked to Price for quite some time, the Dodgers made it known to Rays GM Andrew Friedman to keep them in mind if they decide to trade Price.
The Rays are expecting a lot in return for the former Al Cy Young Award winner and the Dodgers do have the prospects to offer the Rays, but it remains to be seen if they’ll part with top tier prospects. Management has said publicly that they want to strengthen their farm system, but trading for Price might be a deal that makes too much sense to pass up.
Adding Price to a rotation that already includes Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke would give the Dodgers the best pitching staff in baseball and it wouldn’t be close. He’s only 28 years old and the left hander has two years left of arbitration.
Friedman and the Rays have made it a habit to cultivate pitchers and trade them away for assets, rather than paying them a lucrative contract. The Mariners and Rangers have also shown interest in Price and it’s likely he gets traded during the off-season.
