Dodgers News And Rumors: Kershaw Passed Over To Start All-Star Game
[new_royalslider id=”10″]
With the All-Star Game less than 24 hours away, the starting pitchers and lineups were announced prior to the Home Run Derby on Monday.
Controversy arose as the debate for the National League starter was narrowed down to two possible pitchers, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw, or St. Louis Cardinals’ right-hander Adam Wainwright.
The two pitchers both had strong cases with the general consensus being Kershaw is the best pitcher in the game. Kershaw put together a tremendous first half that was filled with a no-hitter, 41-inning scoreless streak and is set to have the best ERA once he qualifies.
Cardinals manager Mike Matheny would up selecting Wainwright to start the game and supported his decision with the belief Wainwright deserved it the most. Kershaw handled the decision with grace and stated he respected Wainwright and felt he deserved the honor.
