Dodgers News: Andrew Friedman Feels Clayton Kershaw is Underrated

Clayton Kershaw has been one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball for over a decade now. His consistency has been impressive to watch and it has allowed him to earn many awards throughout his career.

But recently, it has felt like the future Hall-of-Famer has flown under the radar. Whether it’s due to his strange history in the postseason, or the numerous injuries that he has seen, it has been a weird narrative for Kershaw.

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman addressed this and said that he even feels that Kershaw is underrated across the league.

“Kershaw has come back and been really good. It’s funny somehow Kersh is underrated at this point, which I don’t understand it. And, obviously, he is a significant player for us in terms of us getting to where we want to get and we’ve kind of eased him back in and these two starts and will continue to kind of just be pragmatic and prudent here as we continue to build and, hopefully, have him featured very strongly for prominently for us in October.”

Injuries have taken their toll on Kershaw in the last few seasons, but he still remains a highly effective starter for the team. Even this season, Kershaw has been one of the better starters for LA.

On the year, he owns a record of 11-4 with an ERA of 2.52. He has also struck out 115 batters in 107.1 innings of work.

He has been one of the few bright spots all year long in the Dodgers inconsistent rotation, and helped keep them afloat during their early season pitching struggles. Without Kershaw, who knows where this team would be at this point.

Kershaw has allowed the mind of manager Dave Roberts some ease, as the team knows what to expect from him each time out. Even at his advanced age, Kershaw remains at the top of his game.

LA needs him to continue this level of production down the stretch of the season and into the playoffs. He is one of the biggest x-factors for the Dodgers this year as they go for another run at a World Series.
