Dodgers News: Braves Set 25-Man Roster For NLDS Series

While the Dodgers are still waiting on the status of Andre Ethier’s injured ankle/shin, the Braves went ahead and announced their 25-man roster this morning.

Yesterday afternoon, news broke the Braves were going to leave second baseman Dan Uggla off the playoff roster and that indeed is the case as Elliott Johnson will start in his place.

B.J. Upton is on the roster along with Evan Gattis, but Paul Maholm was left off in favor of veteran Freddy Garcia. If there’s a Game 4, Garcia is the now likely starter at Dodger Stadium.

Here’s the entire Braves 25-man roster for the NLDS:

PITCHERS (11):

Luis Avilan (L)

Luis Ayala (L)

David Carpenter (R)

Freddy Garcia (R)

David Hale (L)

Craig Kimbrel (R)

Kris Medlen (R)

Mike Minor (L)

Julio Teheran (R)

Jordan Walden (R)

Alex Wood (L)

CATCHERS (2)

Brian McCann

Gerald Laird

INFIELDERS (5)

Freddie Freeman

Paul Janish

Chris Johnson

Elliott Johnson

Andrelton Simmons

OUTFIELDERS (6)

Jose Constanza

Jason Heyward

Reed Johnson

Jordan Schafer

B.J. Upton

Justin Upton

The Dodgers lost five of seven to the Braves, but the teams they fielded back in May and June are completely different then the one that will start Game 1 tomorrow night.

Without Uggla, the Braves will be without one of their main strikeout victims as the 33-year-old second baseman struck out 171 times this season. Meanwhile, Garcia has turned back the clock in his time with the Braves, posting a 1-2 record with a 1.65 ERA in six appearances.

Don’t expect the Dodgers to announce their roster much before the 10 am EST deadline as they’re still debating which players to fill the few remaining spots on the squad.
