Dodgers News: Chris Taylor’s Neck Injury Concerning to Dave Roberts

Some unpleasant news came the Dodgers way before Sundays game against the Colorado Rockies.

Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts told the Athletics Fabian Ardaya that Chris Taylor’s neck isn’t looking too well.

The Dodgers skipper mentioned that Taylor’s neck was stiffening up while fielding ground balls.

The 32-year-old was originally scheduled to start in left field and bat in the five-hole on Saturday. Unfortunately, Roberts needed to adjust Saturday’s lineup and Trayce Thompson ended up taking his spot.

CT3 has dealt with some neck issues in the past. Last year, he had a flare up in September.

This season, the Dodgers utility player suffered a fracture in his left foot that kept him out for a month. Hopefully, his current status doesn’t change too drastically in a bad way and avoids the IL at all costs.

The numbers, and the injury, are similar to last season. Will we be witnessing a deja vu from CT3? We all know how his 2021 campaign ended, so we’ll see if he gets the chance to repeat that type of success this postseason.

Los Angeles has three regular season games remaining, so it’ll be interesting to see what direction Roberts goes with his lineups. The seven-year Dodger manager has plenty of options in the outfield, however, CT3 is proven to be the third outfielder both at the plate and on defense.

Let’s hope Taylor remains at a day-to-day status and is back by the time the postseason begins. If not, a likely option to take his place on the roster is rookie utility man, Miguel Vargas. Roberts has said that Vargas remains an option for the postseason roster but space is limited.

The Dodgers don’t play meaningful games again until October 11th at Dodger Stadium.
