Dodgers News: Clayton Kershaw Set to Return to Rotation This Week

The ace may be on his way back to the mound and it couldn’t come at a better time.

Clayton Kershaw in 2023 has been an amazing experience for fans, writers, and teammates. He looked like his CY Young self in the first half of the season.

In 16 starts Kershaw owned an impressive 10-4 record with an even more impressive 2.55 ERA. All while pitching 95.1 innings with 105 strikeouts. In those 16 starts Kershaw posted a 3.1 WAR which put him on pace for over a 6 WAR which he hasn’t accomplished since 2015.

Unfortunately, he won’t accomplish that as his last start was June 27th, where after throwing six shutout innings allowing only one hit he could tell something was off.

After being placed on the 15-day IL and multiple rehab efforts, Kershaw and company finally think he is ready to take the mound once again for the Dodgers.

While Kershaw has yet to be activated off the injured list, he is hopeful that he has taken enough time to heal and knows that he is ready to cross that finish line.

The Dodgers wrap the series with the Padres today then head over to Arizona for a quick two game set before returning home to face the Colorado Rockies. It’s all NL West matchups for the next week.

While a return against Arizona may seem a little rushed, Kershaw could be back on the bump for the series opener against the Rockies at home.

This comes at a much-needed time as the Dodgers failed to secure any of the top starting pitching talent available at the deadline, mostly due to a limited no-trade clause. Lance Lynn has been great in his two starts, but that comes as somewhat of a surprise.

Sitting at 64-46, Kershaw will look to rejoin a Dodgers team that is trying to separate themselves from the San Francisco Giants for the NL West division title and gear up for a long postseason run hopefully ending with the Hall of Fame lefty holding up his second World Series title.
