Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Suspended Saturday Night

Dave Roberts lit social media ablaze Friday night. Unfortunately for him, it’ll cost him a game.

Roberts has been suspended for Saturday’s game, while Padres manager Andy Green and Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood will be fined, per multiple reports.

Alex Wood and Padres utility man Jose Pirela exchanged words in the first inning. The umpires issued a warning between innings. Roberts then yelled at Green, and the benches cleared. The MLB suspended Roberts due to his shoving Green.

The Dodgers-Padres rivalry has been largely dead for a decade. San Diego is still a few years away from competitiveness, but it’d be nice to see some animosity between the two Southern California foes again.

One Comment

  1. The statement regarding Dave Roberts yelling at Green starting the confrontation doesn’t match up with what the video shows. On the video both managers are being instructed by the umpiring crew and just as they finished, Green started talking very aggressively to Roberts and that is when Roberts went after him.
