Dodgers News: Dodgers Trade Howie Kendrick to Phillies

Rumors came out earlier this week that Howie Kendrick was on the trading block. To push it even further, there were reports that Howie Kendrick wanted to be traded, unhappy with his role this past season.

Well, he just got his wish! Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports announced that the the Dodgers traded Howie Kendrick over to the Phillies for first baseman Darin Ruf and Second Baseman Darnell Sweeney.

In 2016, Darin Ruf hit just .205 with 3 home runs and 9 runs batted in; however, his numbers against left-handed pitching could be just what the Dodgers need!

In just 37 games in the majors, Darnell Sweeney has a slash line of .176/.286/.353, though his time in the minors shows promise.

Here is the official press release of the trade:

We will see if the Dodgers plan on using these players or if they are just more trade bait; regardless, moves are being made!
