Dodgers News: Dustin May Could Need Just 1 More Rehab Start

The Dodgers could be very close to getting a huge arm back in the mix. Dustin May went down last year and needed Tommy John surgery on his throwing arm. That put them in a position where they would eventually need to acquire Max Scherzer, especially after Trevor Bauer was placed on administrative leave.

But D-May has been making his rehab starts at Triple-A, and he might need just 1 more. This week. Dave Roberts said that May would go again with Triple-A before they could reassess where he is at. That could potentially mean the Dodgers get him back in less than 2 full weeks.

He went 3 innings on Thursday night and did not allow a run to come across. May punched out 6 batters and his fastball/sinker touched triple-digits as well. The Dodgers could absolutely use him in a long-relief role or as a short-term starter when he returns to action.

The Dodgers are closing in on getting Edwin Rios back. After suffering a hamstring strain, Rios was eventually placed on the 60-day injured list. But he started his rehab assignment in Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday night, meaning he could very well be returning to the big league squad soon.

  1. Its going to be awesome to have big red back on the team. You knew before he was injured last year that he was a dominant pitcher for LA.
