Dodgers News: Dustin May Heads to Injured List, Return Timetable Unknown

Dodgers RHP Dustin May left Wednesday’s start after just one inning with right elbow pain. Dodger fans were very worried, and fortunately, it didn’t take long for Dodgers manager Dave Roberts to provide an update.

Roberts said that May suffered a flexor pronator strain and will head to the injured list. However, there’s no timetable for a return, and it’s unknown if the UCL impacted.

Per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, May’s UCL doesn’t appear to be impacted, which is great news.

Either way, though, Roberts said “the floor” for May’s IL stint is a month, and he didn’t want to speculate beyond that.

This is obviously tough news for May, who was enjoying a great first two months of the season coming back from his Tommy John surgery.

May underwent TJ in May of 2021, and didn’t return until August of last year. He wasn’t fully built up by the time the postseason came around, so he didn’t make an appearance in the NLDS.

However, May seemed to finally be back, and has been dealing early in the season.

Through 28 innings, May has a 2.63 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP. The strikeouts were down, but he seemed to be settling in very nicely.

Now, we’ll hope May is able to return in the next few months. But we won’t know anything for a little while.

Get well soon, Dustin.
