Dodgers News: Ethier Undergoing Further Tests on Leg

A few days ago, outfielder Andre Ethier was carted to the clubhouse after fouling a ball off of his shin. Over the last several days, Ethier has remained on crutches in order to limit the damage that could possibly be done to the shin. And now, the Los Angeles Dodgers star will have a bone scan done.

While the team is still awaiting word of the results of the bone scan, the fact they are having it done in the first place is probably good news more than bad news. They just want to see the structural integrity of the bone and make sure that everything is okay before proceeding with anything.

From Ken Gurnick, a beat reporter for the Dodgers on MLB dot com:

We’ll have to see what the results of the bone scan are, but it doesn’t appear that Ethier will be back for a few more days. The end of the week might be the week might be when we start seeing Ethier back out there on the field, or at least participating in full practices and such.

The Dodgers will need Ethier, who was swinging a hot bat in spring, if they are to be successful for the duration of the 2016 season. While they looked into possibly trading him earlier in the offseason, trading him now would significantly hurt their cause and their depth. He’s a major player.
