Dodgers News: First Names Announced for Likely September Call-Ups
September is a big month in baseball! Post-season is around the corner and the Dodgers are still in lead for the NL West. The expansion of 25 to 40 players is only a day away and, as well as Yasiel Puig has played in triple-A, he has not been a definite prospect for the Sept. 1 call-ups.
Among the first of the likely call-ups that have been announced are Austin Barnes, Luis Avilan, Louis Coleman, Josh Ravin, and Pedro Baez.
Likely call-ups tomorrow: Barnes, Avilan, Coleman, Ravin. Baez when AA season ends. Puig in discussion but not definite.

Luis Avilan will likely be the #Dodgers 26th man for the DH.

With more names to be announced, there is still room for the possibility of Puig’s return to the major leagues. It may come as a surprise to fans that he is not one of the first likely candidates. In 24 games with the OKC Dodgers, he is currently hitting .358 with five home runs.
… for Yasiel Puig, who you were going to ask about anyway.

It is safe to say, aside from the first names mentioned, the return of Clayton Kershaw and Andre Ethier are among the names most anticipated for September.
Kershaw needs to build up more innings before returning to rotation, Robets said.

Kershaw could, conceivably, throw four or five innings in the majors in his next outing, Roberts said. Team is still deciding.

Nonetheless, Dodger fans will have a better idea of what is to come in September with the official expansion of the roster on Thursday.
