Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts Get Some Love on NL MVP Ballot

The NL MVP winner has been announced and unfortunately, no Dodgers player won the award. Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt took home the honors with a third-best in the league .317 batting average, fourth-best 115 RBIs, and eighth-best 35 home runs.

Goldschmidt is worthy of the honor, but of course, we’d rather see a Dodger win the award. Luckily the fans weren’t the only ones who thought this as Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts finished fourth and fifth in the ballots.

Freeman finished with six second and six third-place votes while Betts received one third-place vote. Trea Turner also received some votes finishing 11th in votes and Julio Urias finished 14th.

It’s no surprise when a team finishes with 111 wins that many of the players can be justified for top honors. The full team effort displayed by the Dodgers during the regular season can’t be understated and the team was recognized for its dominance.

No MVP award was given, but the Dodgers would rather take home some bigger hardware next season. The accolades received all season long were exciting but it’s now time for the Dodgers to step up their game and bring it all home.

There are plenty of moves left to improve the Dodgers roster and hopefully, a member of the organization can take home top honors. However, it seems likely any player on the Dodgers will be happy to take all awards away to hold the World Series title at the end of the season.
