Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman Reveals What He’s Most Proud of Regarding His Game

Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman has been one of the best players in the league for the last decade. Since joining the Los Angeles Dodgers as a free agent in 2022, he’s been exceptional. He is one of the leaders on this team, and he is simply a great all-around baseball player.

Freeman typically leads by example and lets his bat do the talking. More than just a great hitter, Freeman does the little things that any team could ask for from their stars.

Freeman caught up with SportsNet LA about what he is most proud of regarding his game. Fans will love his answer.

“My one thing is to be healthy and play every single game. And I take a lot of pride in being out there every single day. And for me it’s just trying to be the best baseball player I can be. And that’s not just being the best hitter. I want to be a really good base runner, a really good defender. So I’m just trying to do everything as the best I possibly can, and I work hard during the season and obviously in the offseason to achieve those kind of things.”

Freeman has been the iron horse for the Dodgers since joining the team. He played in 161 of 162 games in 2023 after appearing in 159 in 2022. His consistency and health are among the biggest reasons for the Dodgers’ success.

Even the Dodgers’ front office might not have imagined the full impact Freeman would have when the ink dried on his six-year, $162 million contract, but it’s been an incredible pairing so far. Along with Mookie Betts, Freeman has given the Dodgers a consistent threat every time he’s in the lineup.

Last year for L.A., Freeman hit .331 with 29 home runs and 102 runs batted in. He is an elite hitter and finished third in the National League MVP voting this season.

If Freeman can continue to keep up his impressive hitting and play basically every day, the Dodgers don’t have to worry about the number-2 slot in the lineup and the first base position the next four years. He is great for the clubhouse as well, and the culture of the team has vastly improved since he decided to become a member of the Dodgers.
