Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman Wins Third Player of the Week Award

For the third time this season, Freddie Freeman has been named the National League Player of the Week.

Last week, Freeman went a scorching 12-22 (.545), hitting three home runs and knocking in eight RBIs. Freeman recorded a hit in every game, and will take that six-game hitting streak into Arizona this week.

Freeman’s best performance came on Saturday, when he went 4-5 against the Padres with a home run, a double and four RBIs. He also had a three-walk game earlier in the week against the Giants, his second such game this season.

Freeman raised his average to .331, which, as of Monday, is good for tops in the league. He also has a league-high 180 hits and 45 doubles.

The award turned out to be a birthday gift for Freeman, as he turned 33 on Monday.

If he continues to play at this level, it could be far from the last award Freeman wins this season.
