Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman’s Ridiculous Pace With the Bat Continues

Freddie Freeman’s homerun in the 9th inning last night didn’t do much for the Dodgers. Even though it put them within a run against Giovanny Gallegos, that was all they could get across in the loss. But that was Freddie’s 4th hit of the ballgame and adds to a ridiculous stretch he’s having in the batter’s box.

That was Freddie‘s second consecutive game with 4 hits. He went 4-for-5 against the Cubs on Sunday afternoon with a homerun and 2 runs driven in. So over his last 2 games, the Dodgers’ first baseman has gone a ridiculous 8-for-10 with 2 long balls, 4 runs driven in, and 4 total extra-base hits.

It also helped out a rocky start to the month of July for Freddie. Before those 2 games, he had gone 8-for-35 (.229) with just 1 homerun. But the Dodgers prized offseason pickup has been solid for the last month and a half, getting his power numbers up and driving in runs when it matters.

Other Dodgers News

The Dodgers are hoping that they will have one of their guys on the mound to start the All-Star Game this year. But while many think Tony Goonsolin is deserving of the nod, ESPN’s Jeff Passan isn’t convinced. He spoke last week about why he thought Gonsolin should not get the start.

Even though Justin Turner did not make the All-Star Game this year, there is plenty to like about where he is headed. The Dodgers’ third baseman has really turned a corner in the box lately, and he’s a big part of the reason they’ve won games lately.
