Dodgers News: Hyun-Jin Ryu leads L.A. on ESPN; Grandal Injury

The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to take on the New York Mets in the weekend finale of the three game series at Citi Field.

The Dodgers are looking for yet another sweep of the Mets on Sunday night, as they will be looking to add to their 6-0 record against them this season, including the 4-0 record that they have against the Mets at Dodgers Stadium in 2017.

The game will be broadcasted on ESPN as the featured Sunday Night Baseball game. Hyun-Jin Ryu will face off against Steven Matz of the Mets. In his last start, Hyun-Jin Ryu tossed one of the best games of his career against the San Francisco Giants. Seven innings pitched, no earned runs, seven strikeouts and just one walk.

The competition in the rotation seems to have lit a fire under both Hyun-Jin Ryu and Kenta Maeda who will be battling for spots in the Dodger rotation once Clayton Kershaw and Brandon McCarthy return from their injuries.

Austin Barnes is the starting catcher for the Dodgers on Sunday night. He replaced Yasmani Grandal in Saturday’s game as Grandal left with an apparent injury.

Andy McCullough of The LA Times reported that Grandal had left due to back spasms.

If Grandal happens to be sidelined for an extended period of time, there should not be too much of a worry with Austin Barnes and Kyle Farmer there to back him up.
