Dodgers News: Jake Marisnick Begins Rehab Assignment in AAA

The Los Angeles Dodgers are steadily getting healthier with the playoffs about three weeks away. The bullpen is getting upgrades with Shelby Miller and Joe Kelly’s returns, and the team made a bold call-up on Tuesday morning when they promoted right-handed pitcher Kyle Hurt to the majors to bolster their relief group.

And it looks like the Dodgers could get depth on the offensive end of things, too.

LA outfielder Jake Marisnick began a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers, per Alex Freedman of the OKC Dodgers.

Marisnick was signed by the Dodgers on July 14, but found himself on the injured list just five days later thanks to a hamstring strain.

The outfielder made five plate appearances over four games with LA, but made an impact in his limited time, going 2-for-5 at the dish.

As Marisnick tries to make his way back to Los Angeles, the Dodgers avoided a major setback in the injury department when outfielder David Peralta hurt his wrist and elbow on a hit by pitch this weekend.

Despite the injury problems that have plagued the team throughout this season, the team looks like they should be World Series contenders come this October.

Hopefully for LA, the team can get fully healthy by the time the playoffs begin — and Marisnick will attempt to play some part in the postseason run as he gets to the final stages of his hamstring rehab. In reality, he likely will accompany the team on the taxi squad and be ready in case of injury.
