Dodgers News: Kiké Hernandez Sees a Lot of Walker Buehler in Bobby Miller
With the Dodgers season continuing, the team has seen contributions from players that they never could have imagined. One of those is rookie starter, Bobby Miller.
Miller came up to the big leagues towards the end of May and has shown ever since that he belongs. He started his big-league career extremely dominant and then found himself going through some rough outings as teams caught up to him.
But he has since learned to adjust to their adjustments and has put together some very solid outings of late. His latest was a six-inning beauty that saw him only give up one run and one hit against the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers.
After the game, his new teammate, Kiké Hernandez, had some strong comparisons for him to another Dodgers pitcher.
“He reminds me a lot of Walker (Buehler) on the mound,” Hernandez said. “He has great makeup on the mound, great attitude and obviously a power arm with really good offspeed pitches. There are outings like tonight that you can’t really tell how young he is. He’s doing a great job, and you can tell he keeps getting better with every start and he has a hell of a future ahead of him.”

This is a solid comparison and one that Miller has likely heard before. But it also means a lot coming from Hernandez considering he has only been with the team for a few weeks.
However, Hernandez knows Buehler well and has seen him perform at the highest level the game has to offer. So this is major praise for the rookie.
Miller’s teammates can see just how special he is. He has shown that he belongs in the Major Leagues and is here to stay.
His poise on the mound has been impressive and is reminiscent of Buehler when he first joined the Dodgers back in 2018.
But the thing that has impressed everyone the most is his ability to learn from mistakes and adjust. He has faced adversity as a rookie pitcher but has taken those shortcomings in stride.
“If I’m just commanding the ball I think I can be a ‘count-on’ guy,” Miller said. “I’m trying to prove to myself that I can be a ‘count-on’ guy, the guy I want to be. I’m just going out there and competing every day, keeping the head down, keep the tunnel vision, and just keep commanding the baseball.”

Miller has been everything that he was advertised to be and more. LA couldn’t be happier with how he has produced during his rookie season, and they will continue to rely on him down the stretch of the season.
