The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired right-handed pitcher Joe Gunkel from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for cash or a player that has not been named.
Gunkel was recently designated for assignment by the Orioles on April 7, after the club acquired 22-year-old Miguel Castro. In 2016, Gunkel pitched for Triple-A Norfolk and Double-A Bowie and had a 8-14 record and a 4.02 ERA in 28 starts between both clubs.
Gunkel joined the Orioles in 2015 and threw 104 1/3 innings with a 2.59 ERA. The 25-year-old righty has a 28-25 overall record with a 3.30 ERA in four seasons in the MLB.
The Dodgers are apparently still looking to add to their rotation depth in the 2017 season.
The Gunkel deal was announced on Monday.
