Dodgers News: LA Claims RHP Jake Reed From the Mets

The Dodgers are always going to be looking for some sort of bullpen help. Regardless of where they are at, Andrew Friedman will look into every team in baseball for guys to potentially add in. That includes adding guys via waiver claims, which they have been very successful at over the years.

Today, the Dodgers added in a familiar face. They claimed RHP Jake Reed off of waivers from the Mets today. Reed spent part of the 2021 season with Los Angeles and appeared in 6 games for them. He eventually was designated for assignment and claimed by the Rays.

Reed offers a different arm angle and interesting pitch mix for the Dodgers bullpen. This year, he has not produced at the big league level. Reed allowed 8 earned runs in 6.1 innings pitched in New York before getting the DFA.

The Dodgers are hoping that they will have one of their guys on the mound to start the All-Star Game this year. But while many think Tony Goonsolin is deserving of the nod, ESPN’s Jeff Passan isn’t convinced. He spoke last week about why he thought Gonsolin should not get the start.

Even though Justin Turner did not make the All-Star Game this year, there is plenty to like about where he is headed. The Dodgers’ third baseman has really turned a corner in the box lately, and he’s a big part of the reason they’ve won games lately.
