Dodgers News: Los Angeles Clinched Home-Field Advantage in a Wild Card Game
The Dodgers are not thinking about the NL Wild Card game. As the season comes to a close and with just 15 more games ahead of them, Los Angeles has its eyes set on their 9th consecutive division crown.
But they do have to prepare for the possibility that they will be playing in a one-game playoff this October. The Dodgers just clinched home-field advantage in the Wild Card game should they fail to catch the Giants. Their win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday ensured that they would be playing in front of their home crowd.
For the moment, the Dodgers still chase the Giants by a game and a half entering Thursday’s play. They also have a commanding hold on the top Wild Card spot at 17 games ahead of the next closest team.

The Cardinals currently are in the number 2 spot, though the Reds and Padres are also in the very tight race. The Phillies find themselves 3 games out of the final spot with time quickly running out. So the Dodgers will likely need to take on one of those first 3 teams should they miss out on the NL West title.
But there is still time to catch the Giants, and you can be sure that’s exactly what the Dodgers have in mind. One game at a time.
