Dodgers News: Mattingly Updates Condition Of Andre Ethier’s Ankle
It was a sight that Dodger fans had come too accustomed to seeing when Andre Ethier winced into second base in the eighth inning of last night’s game before departing to the clubhouse.
Ethier muscled a double down the right field line before leaving the game and as expected, he wasn’t in the lineup tonight. It sounds like he first suffered the injury at Coors Field on the Dodgers latest road trip and irritated it last night.
Talking to Bill Plunkett of the OC Register, manager Don Mattingly updated his condition and gave a timetable for his recovery:
Andre Ethier had MRI on ankle Wednesday. Dealing with condition similar to shin splints but on outside of left ankle acc to Mattingly.

Mattingly said he won’t even use Ethier as a pinch hitter for “at least a few days.” #Dodgers

Yasiel Puig started in center for Ethier, who had been doing a great job filling in for outfielder Matt Kemp, whose missed most of the season with several injuries.
With the Dodgers looking towards a deep postseason push, they can ill afford to lose Ethier and shortstop Hanley Ramirez as both will take the next couple of days to get back close to 100 percent.
Ethier should be able to play in a couple games before the end of the season as he hit .318 in August and has played great defense in center field.
