Dodgers News: Max Muncy Hopeful That Shohei Ohtani Joins Him in LA

The winter of Shohei Ohtani is here, and the Dodgers are expected to be major players in the sweepstakes to land his services. LA has wanted Ohtani in Dodger Blue for years now, and this is their chance to finally make it happen.

The Dodgers have been searching for answers since they were eliminated from the postseason, and landing Ohtani could at least cool the critics for a little bit. He is the best player in the game today, and the Dodgers could easily slide him in as their designated hitter.

Third baseman Max Muncy joined the Foul Territory show recently, and he was asked about the possibility of Ohtani joining the Dodgers. He seemed to be very excited about the idea of playing alongside the two-way superstar.

“It’d be really cool to have him over here there’s no doubt about that. He’s an unbelievable player both ways and you know I’d love to be his teammate. I know that the Dodgers have a lot on their plate this offseason and I do feel like that was something where me being able to come to my agreement early is just gonna help them out.”

If the Dodgers were to land Ohtani, it would be the biggest signing in the Andrew Friedman era. He is the biggest show in baseball, and LA would benefit from the signing both on and off the field for years to come.

Ohtani is unlike anything we have ever seen before in baseball, so the Dodgers of course want to bring him onto the roster. He gives them massive star power and could help reenergize the fanbase this offseason as well.

Muncy taking a pay cut for 2024 with his new extension should help the Dodgers out in their pursuit of Ohtani and other big-time free agents. The team knowing that he will be on the roster provides some peace of mind as well, so the front office can go after other players right away.

The Ohtani watch is on, and this is going to be one interesting winter until he signs somewhere. Hopefully, when the dust settles, he will be wearing a Dodgers jersey for the foreseeable future.

  1. According to sources in SF, Ohtani already made up his mind- Dodgers! He loves SoCal and knows the Dodgers will be playing for titles every year. Plus there’s Mookie, and Freddie, and Smithie, and Max

  2. All in all it’s hoped that Ohtani doesn’t take an entire off season to sign with some team. Appears he in effect is holding the off season hostage should he wait another month or so to decide. In Dodger’s case I would in the meantime get the front end starting pitching first. Waiting for Ohtani too long before landing the pitching needed makes it possible that these pitching targets could land elsewhere.
