Dodgers News: Max Scherzer Says Nationals Have The Mojo To Take Down Los Angeles

Without question, you have to give credit to Max Scherzer. With a season on the line and the ball in his hand, he delivered against the defending two-time NL champions.

In doing his job, he got extended the season for the Washington Nationals and successfully hands off the baton to Stephen Strasburg. Now, there will be a game five in Los Angeles. Indeed, it’s ‘one game at a time’ time of year. Since game four is over, Scherzer is talking about the series finale.

Moreover, he says that the Nationals have the right mojo going right now to pull off a monumental upset and end the Dodgers’ reign. Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times releases a tweet that captures the quote.

Furthermore, do you know what ‘mojo’ is? If you do, Scherzer says the Nationals have plenty of that going right now.

“We just believe we have the mojo and we can win.”

Therefore, one could hypothesize that the elimination game comes down to mojo versus grit. Simply, that’s how the Dodgers could be characterized at this juncture. While they not only have the advantage of playing at home, they also hold a tremendous advantage from an experience standpoint. Remember, they’re playing a franchise that has never won a postseason series.

Moreover, the Dodgers have been through nine postseason series during the Dave Roberts era. Throughout all of those battles, a team develops a composure and a calmness about them. Unquestionably the 2019 Dodgers have it, fully displayed in the sixth inning that won them game three of this series.

Now, it’s the new challenger with all of the confidence (or mojo as Scherzer calls it) riding high. Will it be enough to knock off the Dodgers and pull off what many would consider to be a monumental upset? The Dodger were around -240 series favorites before this series began, and the NL favorite to make it back to the World Series.

Obviously that can all be thrown out the window now. It comes down to one game, where the a team with mojo and newly found confidence plays a team with determination and grit. Something has to give.

  1. It seems that after the Nats took the lead that the team were looking forward go game 5. The bats started out hitting the ball hard, yes a some were right at someone, but after the 3rd inning Scherzer, like most great pitchers, just got better. If I remember correctly, he had 11Ks by the 6th inning. So they’ve put it all on a 5th game and as we all know, anything can happen in a game 5 matchup.

Let’s hope our #1 can out pitch their #1 and our hitters can out hit theirs.

  2. Go ahead and beat us but sooner or later you will have to use your terrible bullpen in a 7 game series and that’s where your season will end. You can ride 2 pitchers in a 5 game series but not two 7 game series. The Braves or Cardinals should frankly be able to get the better of this poorly designed Nats roster but if not then Houston will destroy them

  3. Maybe this off season the Dodgers will rethink their position about the formula that wins in the regular season, and the formula that wins in the post season. Having 3 starters that go 7 innings in the post season allows teams with poor bull pens to survive until they run into a comparable team that has both a strong pen and starting pitching. The dodgers failed to strengthen their pen knowing that their starters don’t go deep.Kelly, now Baez both showed why we will not do well yet again this post season.Knowing Rich Hill was hurt at the deadline and not getting another starter is why we lost this game. Gonsolin could have been the answer. The chances of Buehler throwing back to back gems are slim. The chances of Kershaw regaining any top flight form are just as iffy.. Ryu is tired. Pen sucks…. Been a fun season.

  4. Not feeling confident about facing Strasburg again. If we struggle to get hits and we strike out again 17 times we can kiss this season goodbye.

This is no longer feeling like our year. I hope I am wrong.

  5. BOY IM GLAD IM NOT ON A BATTLE FIELD WITH U GUYS. ALL OF U HAVE WAVED THE WHITE FLAG BEFORE A SINGLE SHOT HAS BEEN FIRED. YOU GUYS ARE THE FURTHEST THING OF WHAT A TRUE FAN IS. WHINING LIKE LITTLE SCHOOL GIRLS SHOW WHAT U GUYS ARE MADE OF. AND IF UR GONNA THROW STATS OUT THERE AT LEAST GET THEM CORRECT. SHERZER DID NOT HAVE 11 Ks BY THE SIXTH INNING. FOR UR 411 HE DIDNT HAVE 11 FOR THE WHOLE GAME. BOY WHAT A BUNCH OF CRY BABIES. WAHHHHH WAHHHHHH. WE LOST A GAME. DO ME A FAVOR. CAN U GUYS GO BECOME YANKEE FANS. YOU JUST LIKE ALL OF THEM ALREADY. WHINE WHEN U LOSE N WAVE A FLAG WHEN U WIN. SAD. SAD

    1. Dodger guy. We have Dave Roberts as our general on the battlefield. The Central command sent No back up forces, no reinforcements of supplies, and our general kept our gunners Martin and Freese watching as our troops were mowed down by the enemy. Either retreat or get blown away! Just because we have no faith in our manager, and our supposedly M.V.P. is choking again, and our opponent has better pitchers, doesn’t mean we are Not good Dodger fans.It means we have seen this movie before and don’t have confidence in the end result. Sometimes reality bites, and hope floats.

      1. What’s lame is that the nationals don’t have better pitchers. They are going to win this series with 2 pitchers. A team with a bullpen ERA of 5 should not win any playoff series but riding those two will be there downfall later on. They won’t win it all

    2. Many shots have been fired it’s game 5. And we are just fans it doesn’t matter what we do I think you mean to say you’re glad this poorly run team is not on a battlefield with you. The team makes us this way. What they are made of is soft and so it makes the fans that way, it’s simple.

  6. I don’t know about mojo in the cajun sense of the word but what they do have is the advantage now. They are playing with house money……they were supposed to lose this series so all the pressure is on the team in blue now. Roberts blew it when he pulled Maeda. Now the Nats have their best pitcher going with………Strasburg versus Buehler…….advantage Nats. Does not mean the Dodgers cannot win, but their chances took a serious hit last night.
