Dodgers News: McCarthy Shines in Second Spring Training Appearance
After a rough first two seasons in a Dodger uniform, Brandon McCarthy needs to do all he can to prove he is healthy in 2017. On Friday night he gave the team a good look at what a healthy version of him is capable of.
After somewhat of an uninspiring start on March 3 against the Arizona Diamondbacks where McCarthy gave up two earned runs in two innings pitched, he bounced back and showed dominance for three innings against the Texas Rangers.
According to David Vassegh, the co-host of AM 570 Dodger Talk, the plan for Friday was to have him pitch three innings, and he did just that.
Hope is for McCarthy to pitch 3 innings tonight and Julio Urias 2 innings. #Dodgers

He allowed only one hit, which was a single to outfielder Ryan Rua with two outs in the 1st inning.
Many were happy to see a dominant McCarthy return to the mound, including the Dodgers and Dodgers Nation:
That's three scoreless innings from @BMcCarthy32! ? #DodgersST pic.twitter.com/VcMr7hhXb8

3 solid innings from McCarthy tonight. 0 runs, 1 hit, 3 Ks.

After facing only 171 batters in 2016, a bounce back year in 2017 can be just what the Dodgers need to take them to the next level.
