Dodgers News: Michael Grove’s Season is Over With Move to IL
After making his major league debut this past spring, Michael Grove has picked up six starts this season with the Dodgers. However, Saturday night’s outing might have been his last this year.
After giving up 4 runs off 6 hits against the Colorado Rockies in his start yesterday, the rookie pitcher took a ground ball off the inside of his left knee to end the fifth inning.
Although the X-rays came back negative, the Dodgers revealed an update about the right-handed pitcher prior to Sunday’s game:
Michael Grove to the IL with a left knee contusion. Andre Jackson back up.

The timing of the IL placement effectively ends his regular season.
Grove, a 25-year-old from West Virginia, posts a 4.60 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and has produced 24 strikeouts across 29 innings of work.
With this new change, the Dodgers recalled Andre Jackson for the fifth time this season. Jackson has only made three game appearances this year, his most recent being on September 25th when he collected a save only giving up two hits in three innings of work.
Although he’s only tossed 5.2 innings, he has delivered 3 strikeouts and posts a 0.00 ERA. It will be interesting to see what Roberts does with the 26-year-old right-hand pitcher when the postseason arrives.
